Clip acquires Pulpos

ALIVE Ventures portfolio company Pulpos has been acquired by Clip, one of Mexico’s leading fintech companies, in a strategic transaction that will expand Clip’s offering beyond digital payments into business management software. The acquisition marks an important milestone for Pulpos and highlights the growing commercial value of technology solutions serving small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Latin America.

A Scalable Technology Platform for Small Businesses

Founded in 2023 by Franco Silvetti, Frank Martin, and Lucas Cortés, Pulpos developed a cloud-based business management platform designed to help small retailers digitize and streamline their operations. Its integrated solution combines point-of-sale systems, inventory management, electronic invoicing, online stores, financial management, and AI-powered tools.

Operating through a subscription-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, Pulpos offers an accessible alternative to traditional enterprise software, allowing merchants to manage their businesses more efficiently without requiring advanced technical knowledge.

The company has demonstrated strong commercial traction in Mexico, with more than 12,000 businesses using its platform, according to its website. Its growth reflects significant demand for affordable, integrated business management tools among independent retailers.

Strengthening Clip’s Commercial Offering

The acquisition represents a strategic expansion for Clip, a Mexican fintech unicorn that has established itself as a leading digital payments provider.

By incorporating Pulpos' technology, Clip aims to create a more comprehensive platform where merchants can manage payments, sales, inventory, invoicing, and supplier relationships within a single ecosystem. The integration will help automate everyday operations, reduce administrative work, and provide businesses with greater visibility into their performance.

For Pulpos, joining Clip creates an opportunity to significantly expand its reach by leveraging Clip's established presence in the Mexican market. Pulpos will continue operating under its own brand and team, with new functionalities introduced progressively.

A Milestone for ALIVE’s Investment Strategy

ALIVE invested in Pulpos in 2025 as part of a US$5 million funding round led by Dalus Capital, alongside Impact Ventures and Daedalus.

The acquisition illustrates the strategic value that scalable technology businesses serving underserved SME markets can create and the opportunities for strategic exits within Latin America's growing fintech and enterprise software ecosystems.

Beyond its commercial potential, Pulpos addresses a significant challenge for small retailers, many of whom continue to rely on manual processes and fragmented tools. By improving inventory management, financial visibility, and operational efficiency, Pulpos helps these businesses strengthen their productivity, competitiveness, and potential for income generation.

For ALIVE, this milestone reinforces our investment thesis that commercially attractive, scalable businesses can also address structural barriers faced by underserved populations and enterprises.

We congratulate the Pulpos team on this achievement and look forward to seeing its technology reach more businesses through Clip's platform.
